Family problems, including negativity, abuse and violence, lead to more runaways. More runaways lead to thriving gangs and pimps able to use them to grow more crime, drug and sex trafficking trade in our county of Riverside. We may not see it, but it is everywhere, hidden with secret messages in our newspapers and other media sources. Operation SafeHouse fights this by helping at risk teens pro-actively and actively.
Their new "What's Up SafeHouse" emergency counseling app has provided help for many if not thousands of youth and their families. As of last year they received over 16,663 texts from 685 unique texters. Here is the breakdown by topic/need:
29.2% - Relationships
28.2% - Depression
27.7% - Anxiety & Stress
6.0% - Suicide
3.1% - Abuse
2.6% - Homelessness
2.5% - Other
0.8% - Psychosis
Through the community, they have outreached and lectured to over 38,000 youth, caretakers, parents, teachers, and community leaders.
Operation SafeHouse is what it says. A safe place for runaway youth who are unable to find a safe place at home. What they offer and what their goals are:
Provide immediate counseling and intervention services for variable and multiple needs (inner conflict resolution, child abuse / neglect, substance abuse, etc.)
